Special Techniques Quilts
|
About Special Techniques Quilts: These quilts are often best known by what they are not. They are not traditional quilts (pieced and/or appliquéd), and many of them do not use the standard quilting method of three layers held together with stitches that go through all three layers. In this group you'll find yo-yo quilts, whole-cloth quilts, cathedral window quilts, and crazy quilts. The person submitting the quilt was the one to decide if his/her quilt belonged in this category. These quilts were constructed (assembled and quilted) by one person, and that person was a member of Empire Quilters. The quilts could be constructed by machine, or by hand, or using a combination of machine and hand. Guild members were not required to have their quilts considered for a ribbon or award (judged).
