Benedicte Caniell was Quilter of the Month for March 2005. Benedicte grew up in Toulouse, France where her grandmother began to teach her hand embroidery. In high school she took drawing and painting courses. As time went by, Benedicte began to pursue a career in science. She first began as a botanist and then she became a biology teacher

During the Spring of 2001 she become fascinated with fabrics, notions, patterns, color, paints, dyes, new techniques and a great variety of media. Benedicte now loves experimenting with new techniques and media. She has recently taught classes at The Happy Quilter (Valley Cottage, NY) in embellishment, embroidery and painting on fabric.
