Tickle Me pink

9½ inch unfinished block (9" finished block)

Fabric Colors: Dark Blue and Pnkish/reddish with white intermixed

Cut:

  • One 3½ x 3½ inch square pinkish/reddish with white intermixed
  • Two 3-7/8 x 3-7/8 inch reddish with white intermixed squares
  • Two 4¼ x 4¼ inch reddish with white intermixed squares
  • Two 3-7/8 x -37/8 inch dark blue squares
  • Two 4¼ x 4¼ inch dark blue squares

Instructions:

Place one 3-7/8 x 3-7/8 inch reddish with white intermixed square on top of one 3-7/8 x 3-7/8 inch dark blue square, right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite corner. Sew ¼ inch on each side of the line. Cut in half on the drawn line. This gives you two 3½ x 3½ inch half square triangles for two corners. Do the same with the other two 3-7/8 x 3-7/8 inch squares for the other two corners. Measure each to ensure that you have four 3½ x 3½ inch half square triangles.

Take one 4¼ x 4¼ inch reddish with white intermixed square and place it on top of one 4¼ x 4¼ inch dark blue square, right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite corner. Sew ¼ inch on each side of the line. Cut in half on the drawn line. Now take these two half square triangles, iron and place together again, right sides down and butted up against each. Draw a diagonal line from the unsewn corner to the opposite corner. Sew ¼ inch on each side of the line. Cut in half on the drawn line. This will give you two red and blue squares with the colors opposite each other. Do the same with the other two 4¼ x 4¼ inch squares. Measure each to ensure that you have four 3½ x 3½ inch squares with the colors opposite each other.

Sew one half square triangle to the both side of the square with the colors that are opposite each other. Sew one opposite color square to both sides of the 3½ x 3½ inch reddish with white intermixed square. Sew the remaining half square triangle to the both side of the remaining square with the colors that are opposite each other. Sew the rows together with the 3½ x 3½ inch reddish with white intermixed square in the center of the block. Measure the finished square to ensure that you have a 9½ x 9½ inch square unfinished block.
