Not Your Easter Bunny

6½ inch unfinished block (6" finished block)

This is a paper pieced project in three sections: A, B, and C. I made this a white rabbit. Rabbits, however, are also grey, brown and black. You choose the color you wish to make your rabbit.

Take the pattern and trace it on to either paper piecing paper or on to tracing paper. Disregard the innermost black line border around the pattern. The two borders that should be used are the middle or second border, which is the 6 inch line, and the outer most border, which is the 6½ inch line. Remember, you sew on the side with the lines and the fabric is on the other side face up. Note: You are sewing “backwards” and sew in number order starting with #1 in each section.

Suggested Colors:

  • White for the rabbit’s face (light grey or light brown or charcoal black)
  • White or very light beige for ears and remainder of face (slightly lighter colors of the alternate colors above, if you chose one of them)
  • Light pink for the inside of the ears
  • Green with a flower, tree or grass pattern for the background

›› Full-size templates are included in the PDF Instructions ‹‹

Starting with A:

  • #1 is very light beige (slightly lighter colors of the alternate colors above, if you chose one of them)
  • #2 is light pink
  • #3, 4, 5, and 6 are green

Section B:

  • #1 is light pink
  • #2 and 3 are light beige (or your alternate lighter color)
  • #4 and 5 are green

Section C:

  • #1 is white, the face (or the color you have chosen)
  • #2, 3, 4, and 5 are light beige (or your alternate lighter color)
  • #6, 7, 8, and 9 are green

When these sections are finished, sew Section B to Section C. Then sew this completed section to Section A. The eyes and mouth are sewn in with black embroidery floss or yarn. Leave the paper on the block and trim to about 6¾ inch. This will allow the winner to trim as she sees fit.
