A Basket for Your May Flowers

5½ inch unfinished block (5" finished block)

Fabric:

• Yellow for the background
• Four bright, spring-like colors for the basket
• One dark red or brown for the handle

This is an easy paper pieced basket. Download and print the PDF pattern. Trace pattern onto foundation paper; add ¼" seam allowance around all edges and piece together to form 5" block as shown. The dimensions for the various pieces are as follows:

• #1 - Background - yellow - 2½ x 4½
• #2 & 3 - basket handles - 1 x 3½
• #4 & 5 - background - yellow - a 2¾ x 2¾ inch square cut diagonally
• #6 - basket - 1½ x 4½
• #7 - basket - 1 x 4½
• #8 - basket - 1½ x 4½
• #9 - basket - 1¾ x 4½
• #10 & 11 - background - ­yellow - a 2¼ x 2¼ inch square cut ­diagonally
• #12 & 13 - background - yellow - 1¼ X 5
• #14 - background - yellow - 1¼ x 5¾

Trim block to 5½" x 5½" square unfinished.
