Starry Path

The Starry Path block is pictured left (Figure A). It is a 12-inch finished block, and it has a deceptive appearance. It looks really difficult but it is not. What you need to do is to consider that it is really four triangles (see Figure B, below). The block seemed to me to be calling for bold colors, so that is what I used to make it, and recommend that you do that also.

You need to add ¼-inch seam allowance to all the pieces, but if you will look at the directions (see below to download) you will see that I have drawn an arrow on one side of pattern pieces C and D. These are the white pieces. I placed the arrows on the outside edges of the pieces and allowed ½-inch seam allowance at that side. You can trim off the extra when you have finished the block.

Making the block is not difficult if you first cut out all the pieces and arrange them so that you will not be confused about where all the pieces will be placed. After that, all you have to do is to sew them. Once again, I will bring the pattern pieces to the June meeting so that you can pick them up from me and they can also be downloaded here (see below).
