This year’s fundraiser was indeed a fun-raiser. Everyone had a chance to socialize, work on some sewing projects, buy a few chances to win some great items, and to try their hand at a couple games of chance to win some fabulous fat quarters for their stash.

Special thanks to Michael Greenberg and Paula Kenney for their many hours of work to get the event off the ground, and to Michael Fung for his help in drawing the many winning raffle tickets.

Absolutely everyone who attended the event contributed in some way, and we thank each and everyone of you. People brought goodies (yum!), and prizes, and fabric — we had many, many, many fat quarters! And everyone was generous as they bought tickets for games, and raffles.

The Event was essentially a Four-Patch:

First Block
Progressive Ballot Box Raffle

This was not your ordinary auction — ticket sellers were walking the floor selling special Progressive Ballot Box Raffle tickets for $1 each. We printed our names on these tickets, and dropped them into the ballot boxes in front of the prize packages that we hoped to win. We had 30 “lots” of prizes in this area. The clever ones among us figured out that we could swing the odds in our favor by loading up the ballot boxes in front of items we really liked — and pass over the ones that didn't interest us as much.

Second Block
Bake Share and Coffee/Tea

Many of us brought along some baked goods to share with everyone. This wasn't a “bake sale” — this was free munchies for all attendees. We proved that our abilities with a cookie sheet or cake pan equaled our skills with needles and thread. The constant supply of sugar throughout the afternoon helped to keep our energy level up and our wallets open for ticket buying!

Third Block
Carnival Games of Chance

We had two carnival-type games of chance that got everyone in the swing of things and having a good time. There was a thread-spool toss where we paid for tosses in hopes of winning some of the beautiful fat quarters that were brought by attendees, and there was a concentration game where we competed to win some of the 60+ different quilting books and patterns generously donated by Ann Logan.

Fourth Block
Tickets in a Super-Raffle

This raffle really had some kick to it. We had some really super prizes in the raffle which pushed up the numbers of tickets purchased. Tickets were sold and numbers were drawn for the 30 different lots of super prizes.
